Greig Craft has enjoyed a successful career in business, public service, and philanthropy, and is an international expert in road safety. He has received numerous awards for his global work in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. His innovative solutions to improve global road safety has had a significant impact in reducing road crash fatalities and injuries in the developing world, especially for children. His creation of a lightweight ‘tropical’ helmet for children in 1999 has been hailed as a “silver bullet” in child injury prevention.
He received the Order of Friendship Medal – Vietnam’s highest honor for foreigners in Vietnam from President Nguyen Minh Triet in 2011. The Friendship Medal acknowledged his innovations and contributions to road safety, culminating in Vietnam’s national helmet-wearing law in 2007. This milestone has since helped prevent 846,476 head injuries, save 25,762 lives from motorcycle crashes, and saved the country $6.2 billion in social savings.
Craft has been twice awarded the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards by HRH Prince Michael of Kent, and the Royal Order of Sahametrei by King Norodom. He serves on the Board of Advisors of the Nationwide Hospital Child Injury Prevention Alliance, Columbus, Ohio, and the Vietnamese American Non-Government Organization (VANGO).
As president of AIP Foundation, Greig Craft has provided expertise and guidance to governments, businesses, and civil society organizations throughout the developing world. He is a member of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration (UNRSC) and the Swedish Government Planning Committee for the 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Stockholm in 2020. Since 2008 he has organized and carried out genital reconstruction surgeries, Thien Nhan & Friends, for poor children in Vietnam. To date, the program has provided free surgeries for 560 girls and boys throughout the country.
Greig Craft is the Founder and President of AA Vietnam, an FIA Automobile Club providing road safety interventions, roadside service, insurance, and tourism throughout Vietnam. In 2020 he was elected President of the FIA Region II Asia Pacific. The Region has 21 clubs and 35 million members in 19 countries.
After the normalization of US – Vietnam relations, Craft served as Senior Advisor to Fortune 500 companies in their Vietnam establishment of operations, including Ford Motor Company, Motorola, Occidental Petroleum, Dresser Industries, Raytheon and Rockwell International.
As co-founder of the American Chamber of Commerce Vietnam, Craft was a long-time member of the AmCham Board of Directors, and also served as Vice Chairman for Washington Relations of the Asia- Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC), representing 29 countries in the region.
